Software Architectures

Through the Common Vehicle Interface Initiative (CVII), W3C and GENIVI
are working with other parts of the industry to fight fragmentation and align
towards a common model for vehicle data.  Similarly, the initiative shall
establish fundamental alignment around description of vehicle functions
(services) across the diversity of operating systems and software
platforms.  CVII will also promote the creation of a robust Technology
Stack for vehicle data exchange and service invocation, that follows popular
trends in software architectures.  Industry convergence toward a unified
catalog of data items and services, and the definition of its underlying
"common language" to describe _all_ data and functions (including
proprietary functionality) can have a big impact. A successful CVII will
accelerate growth of the vehicle cloud development and improve in-vehicle
development beyond the trend of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
